(Gongjoo Magoksa Temple | Designed by The Greenmap)

The temple is said to have been founded by Jajang, a Buddhist monk of Silla during the Three Kingdoms Period in Taehwasan Mountain, Sagak-myeon, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do.

The second one is that when Silla's Crew Yum (染染)) returned from Tang Dynasty and built this temple, it was called Magoksa because the people with the surname Magoksa lived here before the temple was established.

The existing buildings include Daeungbojeon Hall of Magoksa Temple, which is No. 1, and Yeongsanjeon Hall of Magoksa Temple, which has a beautiful ceiling.

This temple is located in Unam-ri, Sagak-myeon, Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do, on the eastern side of Taehwasan Mountain.

It is the headquarters of the 6th Diocese of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.Jajang was founded in 640 (the 9th year of Queen Seondeok's reign) by Jajang.

During the reign of King Myeongjong of the Goryeo Dynasty, Bojo was reconstructed by State Preceptor Bojo in 1172.

During the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejo stopped by this temple and performed a private ritual called Yeongsanjeon Hall.

At the time of its foundation, it was a 30-compartment temple, but now there are only Daeungbojeon (Treasure No. 801), Daegwangbojeon (Treasure No. 802), Yeongsanjeon (Treasure No. 800), Sacheonwangmun Gate, and Haetalmun Gate.

Other treasures of the temple include a five-story stone pagoda (Treasure No. 799)[3], Beomjong, 1 gwaebul, wooden plaque, and bronze incense burner.

Daeungbojeon Hall has four pillars of wood, and if the Great Yeomra asks, "How many times did you go around the pillar of the tree in Magoksa Temple?" If you go around a lot, it will be easy to go to heaven and if you haven't, you will fall into hell, so it will shine.Baekbeom Kim Gu once stayed when he was young.

The World Heritage Committee (WHC), which decides to register as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed Sansa and Korea's Sanji Temple as World Heritage Sites at the 42nd meeting held in Manama, Bahrain's capital, on June 30, 2018.
