​충청남도 서북단에 위치하고 있는 반도.

태안반도는 해안선이 약 817km에 이르는 길이가 길고 좁은 반도로，자연 경관이 수려하고 지형이 독특하여 1978년 10월 20일 태안해안국립공원으로 지정되었다. 태안반도에는 천연기념물로 지정된 신두리사구와 습지 보호 구역으로 지정된 두웅습지가 있으며，크고 작은 해안 사구와 해식애，파식대 등이 곳곳에 분포하고 있다.

태안반도의 서쪽과 북서쪽에는 천리포，만리포 해수욕장을 비롯하여 남쪽으로 몽산포해수욕장, 삼봉해수욕장, 꽃지해수욕장 등의 해빈이 넓게 분포하고 있어 매년 많은 관광객이 찾고 있다.

천혜의 자연을 간직하고 있는 태안반도는 2007년 허베이스피리트호 원유 유출 사고로 인해 이 일대 어업 농가 및 관광 산업이 막대한 피해를 입었다. 

2011년 태안군은 태안해안국립공원 사무소와 태안해변길 조성 사업에 착수하였다. 특히 조성 사업에는 2007년 기름 유출 사고 당시 방제용으로 임시 개설했던 도로의 일부를 해변길로 개발하는 계획도 포함되어 있다.

The peninsula located at the northwestern end of Chungcheongnam-do.

The Taean Peninsula was designated as Taean National Park on October 20, 1978 due to its long, narrow coastline of about 817 km, beautiful natural scenery and unique terrain.

The Taean Peninsula has Sinduri sand dune designated as a natural monument and Duung wetland designated as a wetland protection area, and large and small coastal dunes, sea food, and faesikdae are distributed throughout.

In the west and northwest of the Taean Peninsula, many tourists visit the beach every year, including Cheonripo and Manripo beaches, Mongsanpo Beach, Sambong Beach, and Kkotji Beach to the south.

The Taean Peninsula, which retains its natural nature, suffered tremendous damage to the fishing farms and tourism industries in the area due to the 2007 oil spill on the Hebei Spirit in 2007.

In 2011, Taean-gun started a project to build Taean National Park Office and Taean Byeon-gil. In particular, the project includes a plan to develop part of the road, which was temporarily opened to control oil spills in 2007, into a beach road.
